Trail Description:
The Bartram trail is located within the Tuskegee National Forest. This is one of the most popular singletrack trails in the area and as such, the trail traffic is extremely heavy.
How to get there:
In Auburn, take HWY 29 South over I-85 to HWY 80. Turn left and follow HWY 80 West to the ranger station on the right. (a few miles).

Wow! this trail is actually famous and has a book
written about it. "Footprints Across the South;
Bartram's Trail Revisited" by James Kautz ... it's a
pretty cool book. maybe rei has it. amazon has it for
sure.

This is a good trail for those who are just beginning to go off road. Although, it is not very technical (maybe three to four stumps to go over at any given time is about all you get) it is a fast trail and you are able to get some decent speed. On the weekends there are usually a good number of riders, but during the week I have yet to see anyone. This is also a good trail if you are looking to get a girlfriend into riding, the hills are mild and the ride is smooth and well maintained.

Great trail to work your way up from being an average biker into becoming a very good one.

Ive been mountain biking nearly all my life, but just started to get serious about it last year. this trail if definately the best in the area and makes for a very enjoyable 1 1/2 hour ride. the whole thing is a little more then 9 miles but its split up into about 3 or 4 different sections. there are plenty of bridges, lots of roots, plenty of sand, fun drop-offs, and if you go after it has rained, parts of the trail can be like a lake! shocks are a MUST and be sure to bring watter. there is a river and some creeks that run along it so you can stop and take a dip if you want. i definately reccomend this trail for all you weekend warriors out there.
