How to get there:
From Lawrence, take HWY 10 West to Douglas County 13. Turn right and then the first left into Clinton State Park. Park in the gravel parking lot inside the park on the right. The trailhead starts from this parking lot.

They do a great job keeping the trails up to par. 2 sections (blue & white) provide a ride for both un technical and technical, so you can be that weekend warrior or avid rider seeking new trails. Would rec to all!

SOB. This trail is not for the weekend warrior over 30. Ouch. Lots of fun though. Come tough sections, some rhythm sections, a hidden lake, a secluded beach, an easy paved road back (with a couple of short steep hills) if things get to be too much. Fun stuff.

This trail is not only fun, but is scenic. Mike Goodwin and many volunteers do an incredible job keeping this trail fun for MTBers, trailrunners, and hikers. There's a fantastic new "skills" area for MTBs west of the campgrounds...check it out.

Excellent trail for a long ride with your buddies. Take plenty of water and hydrate beforehand for this trail system is awesome. There are plenty of technical rocky and rooty climbs and descents for the avid mountain-biker to enjoy. Now the blue trail entrance is easier without the nasty descent it once used to have. But no worries, there are plenty of great sections within this great trail system.

Just an update on the Clinton Lake - North Shore Trails. There are presently about 19 miles of maintained single track trails. The easier, 7.3 mile blue trail is generally closer to the lake while the more difficult, 11.5 mile white trail is above the blue. Connector trails are blazed in blue & white. "Round trips" can be accomplished by taking one trail out, then taking a connector trail to the other trail to return to the point of baginning. The fall foliage is beautiful this month and there are lots of white-tail deer and wild turkey. I had a great day riding on this trail system. The short climbs are managable and the short areas of rock and roots should not present much of a problem even to an intermediate rider. There is a really cool tunnel, built out of drift wood on the lower trail near the lake, about half way down the trail. Check it out!

Riding here is fast, if you are in the area ride them you will have fun. Rocks, roots, heat will take its toll on the faint of heart. Ride the whole loop, but be prepared, this isnt Candyland.

The proposed Clinton Lake Resort will destroy the trail system. Lets allget together and stopit.smm

The original description describes several trails, but there really is just two that form a very long, linear loop that runs along the north shore bluffs of Clinton Lake. To do the entire loop is quite an accomplishment. I would advise either driving or riding into the state park west of the free area and accessing the trails from there on the south. The front section near the free area is overused and not as fun as the less-traveled and newer deep sections. Apply insect repellent with abandon because the ticks swarm in the warm months. Last, some type of puncture-resistant tire liners are a must if you plan to do anything else besides changing/patching your tubes. The area is dense with thorny locust and osage orange (hedge). You WILL have problems not heeding this warning.
