Ride Summary:
Lots of great trails to choose from. Described by many as an MTB mecca
Trail Description:
This park contains lush, sycamore-shaded canyons and high ridges offering views of the Pacific Ocean which create a spectacular environment for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The northern No Name Ridge and Red Tail Ridge are connected to the southern Moro Ridge Trail by other small trails through the lower Moro Canyon Trail allowing a near infinite variety of loop options.
The park is designed to preserve the delicate balance of the natural habitat, so a major portion of the park's 3,200 acres is open for use only on a limited basis. Not to worry though there is always plenty of fun trails to ride.
Be sure to have $5.00 handy for the parking machine. No change is available.
How to get there:
Moro Canyon is about 2 miles North of Laguna Beach off the Pacific Coast Highway. The exit and route is well marked so just follow the signs.

Parking up to $15, or $120 for an annual pass.
Trails are maintained and map-signs are posted at
each trail intersection. Well used by cyclists,
equestrians and hikers. Plenty of dog/coyote
bombs scattered about the trails.

One of my favorites in S.CA...park maintenance is shambles ....no signs...ranger say's "I'll tell the Warrior Society about it" when asked if they plan to fix it... And we pay $125/annually for a pass now. BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite place! However, parking is $10 and you
pay at the ranger station. Unless you have a CA
state park pass - then just hang your pass!

To those who ride around "difficult" obstacles on Rattlesnake: STAY ON THE TRAIL and IF YOU CAN'T RIDE IT, WALK IT. Selfish people have ruined what was once a narrow singletrack here.

Parking for the year 2001 is REDUCED to 3 bucks AND if the ranger station is closed for the day, you park for free. Very nice.

If you think riding smooth trail and not seeing wildlife is mountain biking, you're very wrong. Moro Canyon is one of the best trails in Southern California. The views are spectacular and the trails are a good mix of moderate and advanced. It can be a very difficult climb if you're not in shape. The best loop is to start and climb B.F.I(climb it and it'll be obvious what it means) and ride north on Moro Ridge Rd. Ride up Missing Link Tr. and Fence Line Tr. and then down Redtail Ridge Tr. and Rattlesnake Tr. Redtail Ridge and Rattlesnake can get very narrow and good bike handling is required on a downhill section. Continue your descent on West Cut Across Rd. a.k.a. "Mach One", but watchout on the turns for riders or hikers climbing because the corners are blind. Then continue down El Moro Canyon Rd. or if you're feeling brave go down on Poles Rd. and finish on No Dogs Rd. Bring lots of water, it can get very hot.
