Ride Summary:
Ride all day and camp over night!
Trail Description:
This is a great loop ride that visits an interesting and beautiful historic site and follows some amazing singletrack down to and along the south fork of the Yuba River. The shortest loop is about 17 miles while some fun add-ons exist that can make it more like 25-30 miles. Probably two-thirds singletrack, most of the climbing on this ride is on rolling trails or moderate fireroads, but it can be plenty strenuous depending on your speed.
Good camping is $5 a night down the hill
How to get there:
From I-80, take 49 north or 20 south to Nevada City. Turn off 49/20 onto 49 towards Downieville. About a mile up the road, turn right onto North Bloomfield Rd. Follow this for a few miles - it drops steeply down to the Yuba river, turns to dirt after the bridge, and climbs the other side of the canyon. Follow signs for N. Bloomfield until you see the sign for the camping/parking area (1-2 miles past the river.) Park in the day-use lot.

The S.Yuba Trail is not Sacramento. It is Nevada City, and Downieville is still another story. Conditions today were wet and slick on rocks blanketed with moss but tacky elsewhere. This ride is on the South Fork of the Yuba River, and distinctly apart from the Downieville area on the North Yuba River. The trail proper is on BLM lands along a Wild and Scenic designation riparian habitat. Adjacent to the north easterly end of the trail is Malakoff Diggins Sate Park which has some great trails to ride as well, which you can splice on. Also, to the southwest is the Round Mtn trail and Coyote Ledge trail which can be spliced on. Be forewarned that there can be quite a bit of poison oak on this trail. Riders will be rewarded by beautiful views and peaceful forests in any season. The single track is top notch.

You might want to specify to those looking for the trail that it is not in Sacramento. The trail is in Downieville which is located just past Nevada city about two and a half hours away from Sacramento. The trails are awesome they have a little bit of everything.

Great swimming hole at the bottom of Missouri Creek trail. But Bonzai Bill, make a right at the top to get back to NB, left will lead you into fire road hell.
