Ride Summary:
Do not confuse this with the paved North Branch Trail in the same area.
Trail Description:
North Branch is some of Chicago's finest trails. It follows the northern branch of the Chicago River making the ride muddy in the spring. You'll find small climbs and smooth single track.
How to get there:
From the Tri-State (294) North head to Dempster Avenue East. Follow Dempster for approximately 4 miles. Just past Waukeegan Road you will see the Metra Railroad Tracks. Park your car in this area and ride your bike down to the river. The trail will be in this area. Just follow the river, the path runs just beside it. The trail boundaries are Glenview Road and Oakton Avenue.

I live in this area, and have been there. The ride from my apt to the trails was more challenging. Don't waste your time or your talents here. The good thing is, Im not bitter.

Stay away from this trail when it has rained recently. Also, there is a lot of horseshiit on the trails! The paved pathway is decent for a leisurely ride through the woods. The off road trails are not challenging becaause the are basically flat. These trails should not be rated as advanced skills. Anyone serious about mountain biking should find somewhere else to go!

Do not ride this trail the same week of a rain fall. the river floods the trail floor and mixes the dirt with the horse droppings. the trunk jumps are cool. this is a good trail to train on.
