Duration: 2 - 3 Hours

Ride Summary:
Like the name says it rolls! Fast and technical in sections with a few steep climbs.

Trail Description:
The loop follows good logging roads up to the top of the ridge, then descends a wide motorcycle trail where you can let go of the brakes and enjoy a lightning-paced ride down in some sections and must slow down for steep rough descents in others. Unlike the other loops in the Taneum repitore, this one does not cross a single creek and can be ridden as soon as the winter snow melts.

How to get there:
Follow the directions in Route 17 to Taneum Creek Road. Drive up Taneum Creek Road (which becomes Forest Road 33) for 10.5 miles to a 3-way junction. Turn left on Road 3300, cross North Fork Taneum Creek, and park just beyond at Taneum Juncion Forest Camp.

Additional Notes:
Whoo doggies! Fun, fun, fun!

This Trail is amazing. I had to take the easy route most of the time or do the walk of shame. If you are in the area you would be crazy to pass it up. Im an XC type rider and it was Great. "Freeriders" will love it. We stopped in on our drive to Canada for the BC Bike Race. Updates of how it went can be found at www.monaviecannondale.com

You know I'll be the first to admit some damage does occur using these trails. I spent this weekend backpacking. The last two weekends mountain biking. This weekend I'll be riding my dualsport motorcycle and in the fall a hunting trip on horseback.I mix with every use out there and the hikers seem to be the most irritable people. They just don't want to encounter anyone. There is so much country out there. If I want to be away from others there's plenty of places to go. No matter what your method of recreation. When I'm hiking I let people I see if the opportunity is there, that I also ride a motorcycle and occasionally a mountainbike. It's very interesting to see their reaction when I mention I helped maintain the trail they are using, while riding one of those damn dirtbikes with a chainsaw, prunners, shovel and a sore back. My approach to the multi use areas and the people out there is a smile and try to convey most of us are pretty decent outdoor, nature appr

As a dirtbiker- I welcome seeing fellow trail users who are out there to do the same things I am, like getting some exercise and enjoying the scenery. I really don't care if the user is hiking, biking, riding, or on horseback. I respect all trail users, and volunteer accordingly to keep them open and serviceable. I like this trail system because there are some wonderful views along the way, and there are enough miles of trails to keep me entertained. Have fun, be safe, and I hope to see all of you out there.

This is a new scott and I'm here to tell you DH people that this trail is fuuuuun! The ruts and mud and potholes make it fun. So do the berms on EVERY corner. Plus this trail allows you to go about 5X as fast as Ratpac. If you ask me, the motorcycles make it better. Plus they're all really friendly riders. This is probably my favorite trail in the cle-elum/ eburg area.

This is an interesting trail, but I really can't recommend it. This is a very heavily used motocross trail. The "rollers come from all the rutting and digging in from years of motorcycle usage. This would probably be a great trail as it has a good gravel road to go up and a wild trail to go down. However in addition to the dirt bikes that are on the trail, the trail itself in mid summer is fine powdered dirt, which will quickly turn into the worst mud if it rains. The trail is also rather remote. Depending on the way you go its either 13 miles from Cle Elum or 24 miles. The shorter distance is the local shortcut over Peoh Point. The dirt bikers have pretty much left the Cle Elum ridge south of Cle Elum and Roslyn where the Rat Pack Trail is located. Its closer proximity to town and easy access make it a natural choice. In addition the the "Northern Exposure" ridge road where the Rat Pack Trail starts makes a nice cross country ride.

Greetings "ORV’SareFORlazyASSp." You are such a moron. You are the reason true "multi-use" trails don't exist. Hikers and equestrians say exactly the same thing (that you posted about motorbikes) about you when you "whiz by" on your mountain bike, freaking their horse or wigging out a hiker who was startled by your fast, silent approach. God you're such an idiot. I bet you drive an SUV. Did you know your truck burns more fossil fuel driving to the trail than I burn in my dirtbike all year? Oh--you say you have a hybrid? Okay--make that six months. And ruts? You fool--you're riding in a clear cut!!! Dumb@$*. I'm gonna leave an extra rut just for you at Taneum Creek this weekend. Oh yeah, let me know if you ever want to get dropped by a real cyclist (road bicycle, mountain bicycle, or motorcycle--you pick). Sorry though--it will have to be more than 8 miles. Serious. I'll bring the budweiser and the pork rinds.

The prior comments on ORV riders should be removed ... when's the last time this guy carried a chain saw or wrote a legislator to keep these trails open? The trails in this area are all epic and big loops can be tied together. Lotsa water, care in the lower, rooted river trails, and protective gear advised ... enjoy!

Scott, the reason it was one big rutted mudhole is because of the motorcycle usage. I know man, it awful that these ignorant, white-trash losers don't realize they are ruining the trails for everyone. Motorcyclists-Stay home and beat your wives or organize another KKK rally with your budweiser buddies! Stay out of the backcountry with your motorized vehicles.

Just like the ride summary said. I rode it Memorial day weekend and saw no logging trucks. The trails were in pretty good shape but there were quite a few motorcycles out there.

I rode the lower half of this trail 3 days ago. After cutting my ride on the North Fork Taneum trail short because it was one large rutted mudhole, I ended up on Taneum Ridge. I have never ridden the top section but the bottom half was a blast. Ride up FR 3300 approx. 2.5 miles to a three way intersection. Take trail 1363 to your right. I will ride the upper half in a couple of weeks.
