Ride Summary:
A little bit of everything from g-force speed on forest roads to very technical steep climbing on single-track and spectacular views.

Trail Description:
This excellent loop over Dalles Ridge can be divided into three sections. The first part of the ride is a scenic 10.2 mile ascent on well-maintained forest roads from the floor of the White River valley to the crest of Dalles Ridge. Riding this section of the loop requires no skill, just a lot of energy and appreciation of the views of Mt. Rainier. The second portion of the loop is a series of three trails that bring you back down to the valley floor. These trails are not for the timid rider. They are narrow and the tread is full of large rocks and roots. Switchbacks are sharp, often requiring rider to get off and lift their bikes around the turn. The final section is an easy 3.3 mile ride on the paved shoulder of Highway 410.

How to get there:
Drive Highway 410 east 5.8 miles from the Greenwater General Store then turn left on Forest Road 72 for 0.1 mile. Park in the small turnout just before the gate.

Additional Notes:
Wow! What an excellent loop! The views are excellent, the roads are excellent, and the trails are

Rode this trail 6 or 7 times this summer! It's awesome. At the junction, you can pick your poison. Palisades, Deep creek or Camp Shepard. I think there's one more too. Ride it while you can, It's one of those high elevation trails that gets snowed in.

Next time you ride this great area, try to take the time to stop by the ranger station in Enumclaw and thank them for keeping all this open to us...there are some hikers that don't like us, and they make PLENTY of comments...

This trail rocks, I used to live at Crystal Mountain and we would ride this trail alot. There's alot of big drops on the way down, not recommended for beginners. Lots of serious climbing involved but well worth it. I highly recommend climbing up the Ranger Creek trail also, it's a granny gear climber but its got some great views and the ride back down the Coral Pass road is a screamer. Either way you'll get your pulse up.

Ride up the Corral Pass road. 5.4 miles to the Noble Knob Trailhead to Dalles Ridge to Ranger Creek to Palisades. Make sure you don't go past the Ranger Creek Trailhead. Back up the White River trail to the car.Palisades trailhead is just past the shelter. It is obvious now where the trail shuttlers enter the trail. Please don't skid. This trail has it all. You can skip the Palisades trail and go all the way down Ranger Creek if you want to skip the steps and climb down toward the bottom of Palisades, but you miss some of the best views. Don't underestimate the ride time and get caught in the dark. This is some of the best singletrack w/views to be had. Earn the ride down, it is worth it.

Rode it yesterday. While the trail itself is in good shape, I was surprised at the number of logs still blocking the trail. The staircase stinks but, I love those views!

To make this ride into a true epic, skip the Corral Pass road climb, and climb the Little Ranger Creek Trail up to the cabin or beyond then decend the pallisades. It makes for a kick ass 100% singletrack torture fest. You have to enjoy climbing to get the most out of this ride.

One of my fav. NW rides. Had to hike a bike 5/27 due to some snow, only adds to the NW flavor. Good up hill on logging roads lets one fell he earned the awsome down hill. Stop by the Naches Tav for chile and beer on the way out. Life is good!

Stunning views and some sweet single track! The Ridge can be ridden separately or as part of the Cascade Triple Crown.
