Ride Summary:
Challenging in-city singletrack trails. Extremely well maintained by the local bikers.
Trail Description:
Two sweet sections of singletrack that wind through woods & bluffs along Cypress Bayou and the Comite River. Interlocking loops that will test the technical skills of the intermediate and advanced rider. The Red Trails will surely test some of the best. There are also sections that will challenge beginner & intermediate riders (Blue Trails). Thank you to the volunteers of BRAMBA who designed and maintain the trails.
How to get there:
Up I-110, then East on Hooper Road. Pass the first signal light (Plank Road), to second signal light, Cedar Glen/Mickens Road. Left on Cedar Glen, which is a residential street. This will T into Guynell. Right on Guynell
will take you into BREC Hooper Road Park. Trail head to left of parking lot.

Park at the comite trail head...trust me on this one. begining at comite you can string together an intermediate level 11-12 mile loop if you take the connection trail over to Hooper and back again. hooper has a short 2-3 mile section that can get pretty technical. trails on comite side are generally in better shape cause they get more use. nice scenery most of the way!

behind the Comet Estates Subdivision. The trails here will transform from a different ridding enviroment than the earlier. This will keep the ridding fun not the some loops, paths, hills, etc. Explore the paths here, nice lots of shade try Skid Mark Drop if you like, find the bench at the end of Trail Head that has a really nice overlook of Commet River for another little cool down. Now take the Beach trail, River Ride path or Trail Head back to the end. There are clean bathrooms, cold water, bike clean area, and covered area to hang out. By now you have had a good ride, you can ride it back to where you started or go through the parking lot and take a left on Hooper ride pavement back to start. I have gps mapped these trails and paths myself. There are more trails then most people relize. Most people stay on the enter section and do not explore the outside sections. I went on a mission to map all trails and routs, If you don't ride the same path twice, there are over 17 miles of d

I have been ridding these two trails for about 5 years. This is what I have to say. Bring a good hydration pack, a very small lunch, and a Friend (if can't bring a Friend bring a Ipod). Make it fun, make a day out of it. Start out on the trails at Hooper. First the small flat turns to hills, then move to Collor Bone Alley and the Goat Trails these are some leg burners then go to the pipe line trail kick over to the little pond eat a small lunch, check bikes, talk with your friends about the fun you have already had. Take a little cool down break. after the break backtrack to the pipeline go under the bridge ride the flat lower path along side the creek. The upper path has not been maintained and is almost unpassable do to down trees from storms, I tried several weeks back its a wast of time trust me on this!!! Use the lower path. This will conect you to the Commet trail back enter point. when you see the pumpstation or something don't know what it really is stay to the right be

If you want to park at Comite park, keep going east on Hooper road, past the directions listed above. Go about 2 miles past Cedar Glen dr. and turn right into the gravel driveway with the Comite Park sign by it (Its about 3.5 miles from interstate 110). Note that there is a connection trail from one park to the other, and it is not a long ride to the other park using the main road. Great riding on the quick up and down hills there. Lots of roots. Its nice to have a soft tail.

These are 2 excellent trails. They are very well maintained and have some fun and interesting drops, climbs, turns, etc.
The elevation changes will definitely surprise you considering it's Louisiana...

My first time to "Really" Mountain bike and it was a blast. Some fast flat tracking and some good beginner jumps. Make sure to wear a helmet b/c I am thankful i did. There is one spot to realax and sit down and look out at the Comite river that is pretty nice. I could see it being muddy if it rained, but it was dry for us and was a blast!
