Tight, technical, roots, rocks to the extreme! For the advanced rider.
Trail Description:
There are 4 loops creatively named A, B, C and D. Most riders do them in alphabetical order. These trails will challenge your skills like no other in the area. Constant technical riding and challenges with little time to rest. The trails maintain a constant level of challenge which is at least moderate and often advanced. Expect narrow singletrack through rooted shoots and extra tight off-camber corners. The loops become more difficult as you progress. One of the cool things about Highland is that the builders put their personality into the work. Look for the wood carvings distributed through out the ride.
How to get there:
Northeast of Milford on Livingston Road and South of M59 via Duck Lake Road.
Additional Notes:
Bring a compass and first aid kit just in case.

Here's a link to some current work using Tesla data.I'll secarh around for deeper background and I find some links for the older stuff I'll post them to you.Most of Tesla's papers were confiscated by the government when he died, I recall reading somewhere.Edit: Added some links. I'll see how many more Ms. Yahoo will allow.

Some of the best trails in the U.S. are located in Georgia, I find Highland rivals those trails.

Did the A and B loop a couple of days ago. This was
an awesome trail and I cant wait to do the C/D trail
section. The rocks/roots were a nice twist.

I Went today and it was insanly snowey/ice it was reall
hard to do the climbs but when dry this trail rocks.

Great trail, rode all 4 loops summer of '05, but loops c & d haven't been well maintained by the DNR - lots of fallen trees arcoss the trail requiring climbing over or around. Pass the word on this trial and maybe a little popularity would get it cleaned up!

Great trail with a lot of switchbacks and technical climbs. The four loops advance in difficulty. D is overgrown right now - just wear glasses. This trail is more technical than the Pontiac Trail 15-20 minutes East on M-59. If you are looking for a faster trail with some technical jumps and turns - Pontiac is a better choice. If you are looking for a lot of switchbacks, climbs, and some jumps - Highland is a good choice.
If you are in Ohio - I highly recommend Vulture's Knob in Wooster, OH. I just rode that for the first time this week while on business over there and it was pretty tight.

Highland rocks! If you do all 4 loops you are a true mountain biker...Just remember, it ain't a party till you draw some blood!!! See you out there!
