Ride Summary:
Mostly fast flat singletrack with some switchbacks.
Trail Description:
This trail is located on the property of Clemson University's Experimental Forest. The entire forest encompasses a total of 17,500 acres. Take it easy on this trail as it is shared with equestrians, hunters, and hikers. This mostly single track trail is flat and very fast, be careful there are tricky switchbacks and several creek crossings as well. This trail is also used locally for mountain bike races. Much of the trail meanders along the lake providing beautiful views.
How to get there:
From the junction of US 123 and SC 133 in Clemson, take SC 133 North toward Six Mile, SC. Travel 3.6 miles and turn left onto Old Six Mile Highway. Then shortly after turn right onto the Issaqueena Main Road. Indian Springs Recreation area is a half mile on the left.

The lake trail is not the only trail and it isn't a beginner trail. There are very narrow and dangerous spots where a person can slip off the trail and slide down a long drop off into the lake. There are many difficult trails and lots of climbing. I ride there almost every day and most people I meet get a good workout. Check out the maps on the following site. www.GCMBC.com

The wifey and I took our 13 year old boy and 15 year old girl around the lake, down to the dam (started at the dam on w. dam road)... We rode about 16 miles and had a great time.
The trail around the lake is challenging but still good for novices like us. We will certainly do it again.

There are plenty of trails in this area. Go to GCMBC.com (greater clemson mountian biking club website) where they have some good maps of the place. I ride out there almost every weekend. Seems gcmbc has updated the maps lately as there are areas I didn't know existed...

The first time I rode these trails I was just amazed. You have everything from a flat lake trail to a hilly mountain trail. I usually ride 11 miles with each ride and still that only covers 30 to 40% of the trails. Great place......

I have only rode the trails once and loved it! It
is a great location for riding and the landscape
is beautiful. There are lots of sharp turn
backs and plenty of bridges to cross. It can be
a dirty ride after a good rain. Great trail to
ride on!

I graduated from Clemson and this is where I learned to ride. The lake trail is fast and fun for anyone I think, but there are some more challenging parts if you know how to get to them. Supposedly there's like 50 miles of trails back there.

Dont just think that there is the lake trail. There are so many trails out here you cannot possible ride them all in one day. I lived in the area for 7 years and don't think that I learned all the trails. Try it at night!!! awesome.
