Ride Summary:
The Fort Custer Recreation area has 3 loops with varying degrees of difficulty on mostly singletrack.
Trail Description:
There are three loops to choose from. They include the Red 7.2 miles, Green 5.6 miles, and Yellow 5.6 miles. These trails are easily marked and obvious to follow. Each trail offers something a little different. For the best experience do them all! Together they make up an 18.4 mile ride on singletrack that isn't real technical but can be very fast!
How to get there:
The Fort Custer Recreation Area is located between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. Take I-94 and at exit 85 ( 35th Street ), get off and head North. Take M-96 through Augusta and you'll see the park entrance is just past the Kalamazoo River.

Good trails, especially the green and the red. It was my first time out in awhile and was moderately challenging. Definetly worth the time.

An awesome spot with a lot for everyone, it's a pretty long system with a lot of fun windy trails and switchbacks. Worth the trip from anywhere... a beautiful place to ride. My second favorite next to Birch so far. No technical park like Birch but I would venture to say better trails. Needed some rain last time we were there (two weeks ago) as it was a little sandy, but a blast to ride.

Great bike trail, very fun, easy to follow, alot of big hills but not to hard to climb, one bad problem is there is sand in some areas where you need to push your bike but sometimes you can ride right around the sand. the red loop is the best. all together they are the best trails in michigan i think

Fun trails all around, especially Red and Green loops. (Red has bigger hills and more technical sections, Green has more moderate hills with scenic views, Yellow is the easy trail that cuts out the hard parts of the Red loop.) Clearly marked, well mapped and a great facility with camp grounds, drinking water and shortcuts to get back to the trail head if needed.

This is one of my favorite trail systems. There is something for everyone and with great camping it makes for the perfect get away.

I only had one thought while riding this one...FUN! Not a lot of work, but a lot of fun. If you don't feel like killing yourself and just want to go fast while turning nonstop, this is your trail.

It ‘rocks’ when you enjoy a good trail.
Say, have you checked out the Trail Advocacy link just on the left listed under the Trail Guides heading? Please remember it’s only as good as the effort that’s put into making it that way and it can disappear tomorrow. Please do your part. Thanks

Great ride, fast, fun, and well maintained. I found some muddy spots, but that just makes it all that more fun. Worth a weekend trip. Two thumbs up.
