Trail Description:
The Ashland Watershed is a popular area for mountain bikers and hikers alike. The trail starts at Lithia Park in the center of town. You can make a challenging loop on service roads or turn off on some of the singletrack along the way. The first five miles are an extremely brutal climb, but the decent at the end makes it all worth while.

How to get there:
In Ashland go west on Ashland St. Turn right onto Siskiyou Blvd. After crossing Lithia Creek, turn left onto North Main. Then turn right onto Winburn Way. Follow Winburn to the parking area and trailhead.

Mar02 Firstly, as at least a partial wteniss to the calamities leading up to the eventual deforestation and subsequent erosion of this epic green journey, I think you went really easy on Mr. Green Travel in this current journalistic accomplishment, displaying grace and diplomacy. Secondly, in my mind, you are the most famous gay travel writer this gay social worker has ever known (never mind that our last attempt to review out-of-town small town gay bars devolved in to eating chocolate and drinking wine at the kitchen island of your awesome gay friends, taking zero notes, asking zero interview questions and recording nothing. shouldn't we write a review of their island?!?). Thirdly, this demonstration of how the popularized green movement is really a movement to spend money while looking fresh faced and outdoorsy, reminds me of the America's Next Top Model green cycle, where Tyra declared with self-righteous self-promotion that she was dedicating the show to daring env

I think some of the posters need to travel a bit more. the riding on the middle of the mountain is good and flowy... not technical, not dh bike terrain.... the riding for the top 1100vert or so is quite lame... either a logging road or bashed out, fall line junk. Also, the riding at the bottom is like riding a paved bike path. if you rode the middle 1800+ vert up and down on a med travel bike you'd have perma-grin. just my 2cents.... oh, and you can easily climb any of the trails and avoid being bored to death climbing fire road.

Yes you can drive to the top of the Mt. I would not classify the non-ride up as "sitting on the couch". Far from it. You will want to bring your best downhill bike which sux for climbing unless you stay on the tame trails that the people that "earn it" most likely do. The downhill is amazing and constant. Varied options as the previous poster said.

I have heard of toothpick, can you access this trail from the top of mt a? I have ridden from the very top of mt a to town, it was Intense!!! I have no idea what trails i was on, but it was some high speed downhill with some good log rides. I did a nice drop off a log, then hiked backed up, then rode the log over to a built up small step down to flat!! That place is capable of some big lines and highspeed, but could use some work to build some better trannies... Devintegen@hotmail.com
