Trail Description:
McDonald Forest is a forest managed by Oregon State University. The area is very popular for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. The forest is very extensive and full of service roads and singletrack of varying difficulty. The farther into the forest you ride, the more challenging the trails become.
How to get there:
In Corvallis go west on Harrison Blvd. It will change into Oak Creek Drive. Follow the road to it's end at the Oak Creek Laboratory of Biology. Park to the left.

I live in corvallis and have my whole life (18 yrs) and McDdonald forest has always been a fav. of mine seeing is that i lived only a stone through away from afire road directly to the saddle which was always fortunate. But i never used a map of anysort and never was really aware of the illegal trails that McD. had to offer. please tell more..

There are toooons of trails in the forest but unfortunately many are classified by the university at "illegal". this basically means they see no trail work(other than what bikers do) and the university discourages any use of these trails. stunts, bridges, jumps and the like can be found there periodically but they get chainsawed after a few months by those who work for the school. my friends and I are doing our best to keep trails like endo, south ridge, south side slip, superman, lupine letdown, open and interesting but the school keeps trying to keep them closed. If you are riding in mac forest and see a single track take off into the trees, it is probably worthwile to check it out, who knows what you will find... if you are in the area ans want to know more post an email here and I will tell all...

Very nice singletrack descents and climbs, but not enough of them. Most of the forest is filled with gravel invested doubletrack.

I grew up on Belhaven Drive - about 1.5 miles away. I cut my teeth riding these trails as a kid (16 or so - 31 now). I still remember the long fire road climbs, snaking singletrack descents, creek crossings, mud and challenging technical sections. Superb riding in a lush rainforest.

This trail system is one of the finest i have ridden. The trails open themselves up, and the terrain is very illusive. The more you ride the more you find. The more you find the harder they get. South side slip, alien, plus many more that are fun after a long day.

Its good for the after work get out and play and the winter rides when everything else is under snow. But OSU is turning it into wheel chair ramps. Its summer, time to get out of the hiker invested area.

This is one of the best places to ride in the state. Everything from slow and technical, to insane downhill decents. Hard climbs, great scenery, and well maintained trails. Also, it is close to Corvallis, so after a hard ride you can grab a Pizza, uh...or something healthier. If I am taking someone riding, it is where I take them. Favorites, Horse Trail, Dan's Trail, Extendo, Alien and on and on. They are all good.
