Trail Description:
The trail goes down a gully. From there take a left onto the rode and ride back up. You can choose from plenty of trail most of which require lots of front brake use. It is pretty technical and steep in spots, but nothing that tough. There are some fun stairs to ride down and some decent sized logs on the trail. I rode it for the first time w/ out a front brake (because I dont have one yet, too broke) and it was interesting. Definately need one. It is very fun though.
How to get there:
It is on Capitol Hill. You enter the trailhead on 19th. to get there from the university bridge you take a left onto Harvard Ave. You follow Harvard until you hit Roanoke. Take a left on Roanoke and then a right on 10th. Climb along 10th until you hit Aloha St. Then take a left on Aloha St. Follow Aloha to 19th. Take a left on 19th and follow 19th down the hill until you hit the trailhead.

Mountain biking in Interlaken Park is only allowed on trails five feed wide or wider. Aside from the paved road through the park, mountain-biking is off limits. To respect the hikers and the trails, we must find other trails to bike, and stay only on the paved road.

Super short trail. Lots of trail runners, dog walkers and road bikers. Do yourself a favor and drive over to Saint Ed's.

I live right next to this trail. This is what I ride all the time if I can't find someone to ride with. some fun sections, but not a lot of scenery change, and you will probaly re-ride the same section a bunch of times. I saw a land purposal for a park that is going to be under I-5 very close to this area and they designated a bunch of miles as mtb trail, thats will be interesting.

The trail was difficult for me, however I realized that this mt biking thing is not for me. I am a soft, pale, and chubby man that thought i'd give mt biking a try. I fell and broke my front rim within the first 2 miles. I wish I could ride a nice bike and drive the cool Pathfinder or Land Rover with the bikes on top, but it's just not meant to be. I'll stick to my Toyota Tercel and huck some darts or do the gameboy thing. My legs are sore, I'm banged up, and my bike is broken.

Hrm... Just tried this "trail" today for the first time. We found about 1 minute's worth of trail, mostly down stairs. I would definately *not* call this a mountain biking trail. It's a huge waste of time. If you're looking for something in Seattle, I'd recommed Woodland Park by Greenlake.

I grew up about a mile from this trail. Great vista when you get to the top...The top 2/3 is technical enough coming down that when it opens up towards the bottom, you are compelled to let it rip. I did this one time and got pulled (this form won't let me say s*cked) up a banked curve, only to taco my front wheel and fork on a stump hidden by ivy.All in all, its just about the most fun you can have in Seattle without a bike rack.

It's REALLY a challenge if you attempt this one with a road bike!! (Helmet & pads HIGHLY suggested, though)

Although short, this used to be a really fun and popular trail. What makes it so fun has also lead to its demise - it's on a very steep slope in a heavily developed area. Parts of the trail have suffered from chronic erosion problems. A few years ago, some of the local residents got together and posted signs prohibiting bicycles, with the idea of restoring the trail as a hiking trail. I haven't biked it much since then, so I'm not sure what the status is now, although I didn't see any signs last time I was there. This winter was the worst yet, however (1999). A large part of the trail was completely washed out, and the whole trail was closed for several months. The trail I'm referring to is the one that leads to the Boren Park lookout, right across from the Lakeview Cemetery, just north of Volunteer Park on Garfield and 15th Ave E.There's another trail just east of this trail which is a lot less interest
