Trail Description:
Several 3-5 foot drop offs, and lots of log piles along with steep drops make this the most exciting trail in the Vernon area. Really, you have to ride it to know what I mean. It is just awesome! It is all down hill.

Follow the trail until you come to a dirt road, turn right on the dirt road and you will end up at the switchback on Silver Star Road. Go up Silver Star Road for about 100 yards to a pull out on the left hand side of the road. This is another part of Spanky's. Follow the trail and you will come out on Silver Star Road again. Go directly across the road and down the trail. It will come out on a dirt road(Forsberg Road). Go directly across the dirt road and follow the trail. It will come out on another dirt road(Dixon Dam Rd) Turn right and follow the road until it turns to pavement, keep on following it to get back to town.

How to get there:
Head up Silver Star Road as if you are going to the top of the mountain. When you see the sign for the Sovreign Lakes X-Country Ski Trails, you will see a small dirt road across the road from the sign. Go down the dirt road. When you come a clearing, go to the end of the clearing, and you will see a trail. This is the start of Spanky's, get ready to get spanked!

spanky's has been subjected to lots of logging in the past couple of years. I would deem it unsafe to blaze this trail unless you walk it first. You never know what happens during logging.

I was up there this summer and while it was fun, I found after a certain point there were no more signs on the trail. We wandered around for a while and eventually came out in some guy's back yard!

spankys is a good trail with very little flow . new section- watch left side of road right before you hit gravel pit at the switchback comes out on forsberg road rest of the trail after this is barely worth doing. not the best trail in vernon big ed ,36dd is much better . watch for many new trails coming out soon 2005

You can start this ride at the top of Silver Star Mountain. With a 15 to 25 minute climb out of the village you will find yourself at 6200 feet above sea level on top of a mountain with the most spectacular 360 degree panorama, from the arid Okanagan Vally south of you, to the jagged peaks of the Moashee mountain range not too far to the east. In the summer season you can cheat and take a chair lift to this point, if you think you have enough karma in the bank.Your epic journey will begin on an old double track called ? that was the original road (1938) to the top of the mountain. The trail gradually desends at a perfet slope to hammer your brains out for about three miles of railin and rippin excitement. Look ahead for a two foot drop of at about the two mile mark. The trail will come out onto a road where you will turn left and go a short distance to a huge parking lot, stay to your left and watch for a wicked litle single track, dont miss it cause this thing flows like the beer
