Ride Summary:
A fun trail in Northwest Washington outside of Bellingham.
Trail Description:
This is a not too steep ride up but makes for a fast smooth ride down. Or you can do a loop that will allow for more technical stuff. About 10 to 15 miles of trails networked on Chuckanut Mt.
Follow trail head up, it's no brainer. You'll see the PNT on the left as you go, stay right (PNT is ok but it's just a short trip to a lookout) Keep going to the top and you'll see a sign ;left to lilly lake or right to Lizzard Lake. Go left to Lilly Lake and follow it around the back of the lake. You can walk your bike or ride if you can up a trail that will lead you to a great veiw of the bay and the Islands on a clear day. Going back you can follow the trail down to Hwy 11 (Chuckanut Dr.) or go back to the sign at the top. Going to Lizzard Lake has a trail out the back side that allows you a view of Lake Sammish. Or you can go buy Lizzard Lake to the alternate incline trail that drops you at the fire road. Turn right on that road and ride back to the car.
How to get there:
I-5 to exit 240 go east about .2 miles. Look for sign on left that says Blanchard Hill. Take left follow about .3 miles follow Blanchard Hill sign on right. Road turns into gravel, follow about .3 miles to trail head park and go up.

Yeah, who ever wrote the directions to this trail left alot to be desired to put it nicely! You do take the 240 exit and head west for about .6 miles and take a left on to Barrel Springs Rd., after this you'll go for about 1 1/2 miles till you see the sign on the right for the Blanchard Mountain trails. I totally got lost trying to follow the other directions! The trails are worth it though when ya find it!! Lots of up hill...but comin' back was worth the pain! And ya I agree...watch out for the horses!!!

The less than smart person who wrote the directions to the ride should have his head examined. You head west from exit 240 to get to Blanchard Hill. I rated it a waste of time because going east is a waste of time. This happens way too much on this web site. Is it that hard to put correct directions up? &!%#$ the guy that submitted this ride.

the downhill is worth the climb. i'm going to have
to agree with stickboy and jeffman, its more
difficult than "weekend warrior," especially if u go
past the lakes to oyster rock (200 ft. cliff be carful).
the ride back down from there is incredible. oh, and
there wasn't That much horse crap when i went.

Been riding for 15yrs and been to a lot of places. This place has some nice views but the trails are full of runny horse manure. These trails are full of horses, and I went on a very dry day, the trails are chewed up by 2000lbs manure shooters that have ripped up the trails. Don't wasted your time go to Anacortes of Bellinham. Many of the trails are not rideable and are difficult to even hike on at least with bike shoes. Don't waste your time.

Park at the lower Lilly Lk. trail head and go up a fairly steep incline for about 4.5 to 5 miles. If you come back down this trail its a fast ride down, but nothing smothe about it. Its definatly a fun chalaging ride.

In case anyone is wondering the British Army Trail mentioned by Jeffman is closed at the fireroad. Found out the hard way after coming all the way down from Lizard/Lily and then had to drag our bikes across 300 yards of felled timber to get out to the road. YUCK.

A great workout ride to the top for about 45 minutes. Then you cah turn around and have a fast and fun downhill descent or choose from about three different more technical ways down which are just as fun and a little more challenging.
