Fast flowing hard pack single track with some nice through-the-trees down hill sections and some pretty steep, but relatively short climbs. Two short steep black diamond descents are doable or walkable. You will find some roots and rocks so if you are freaked out by that then give it a pass, but all in all Fountainhead is a great place to ride!

I've done fountainhead's 10 mile loop two times this year. this is fun track but you have to stay alert. downhills are really fun and the uphills are a serious workout. Some of them loong and some are steep. it's not easy to maintain traction all the up all the hills and you have to stay seated on most of them. this would be concerning track when wet because of all the roots. doing the 10 mile loop feels like 35+ miles on gravel roads. great workout. Oh, and it has a couple of optional spots for tricks.

I'm fit, but a newbee to offroad. This trail kicked my ass. Steep climbs, sick downhills. I will need to work up to this. Spent alot of nervous energy trying not to wipe out. The deer aren't scared. BEAUTIFUL & AWESOME.

This trail is incredible; however, this is not for a beginner. This is a Mountain Dew commercial not a relaxing bike ride!

more rooty and rocky than i had expected. a tough ride for a reletive beginner like me. beginners might want to work up to this, but more experienced riders should have a ball.

- Most Excellent!!
- Technically in Fairfax County. Occoquan city is about 10 to the southeast. Foutainhead park runs along the Occoquan Reservoir.
- Directions: I-95 to North Rt123 (Gordon Blvd - turns into Ox Road after Occoquan Bridge). Left on Hampton Road (Rt 647). Approx 2 miles on left is the entrance to Foutainhead Park. Park as indicated...first parking area on the right.
- Up to 8 miles of trails
- I'm a new-bee at this, and went after it rained the day before. Took a one tumble and had to walk a couple hills....
- Rocks, roots, hills....marked well. I did only about 4 miles. Best ride to-date.
- Definately going back....awesome.

Good rides. Steeps but not too much of it. Some technical; some easy. Nice people, not crowded, Well maintained. Worth a drive to reach it from other cities. Stay away if wet!!!

Feel the burn! Lots of hills. Lots of rocks. 100% single track. You'll be off your set the entire ride. Experts will not be bored. REI did a good job.
