Ride Summary:
Best left to advanced and expert riders.
Trail Description:
The Gran Canyon is really what is left of the old limestone mines. The trail cuts through open quarries and are best suited for experienced mountain bikers who like the sensation of dropping over ledges and down steep descents.
How to get there:
Follow State Road 50 west to Brooksville from Orlando. Continue on this road until turning right on Mundon Hill Road. Hang a right at Cooper Terrace.

I would not recommend bringing your road bike to the canyon. I have an old, outdated Cannondale, and I kept getting flat tires. The terrain is a little rough , and my bum hurts.

I was so scared! I am just a girl, so it was harder for me..I skinned my knee a little bit!I cried my peepers out, and the boys rescued me.

Well, I don't know if I had the right type of bike for these trails. I have a Trek Navigator. People kept looking at my bike and insisting that front suspension would probably really help me and that a hybrid maybe wasn't appropriate for these trails. But, I mostly walked and didn't really do a whole lot of riding, so I guess the bike type doesn't matter too much. I thought the trails were really cool though.

During wet conditions and periods when trail is not cleared I would skip this one. This seems like a good winter trail when foliage will not crowd your path and limestone tracks are not as mucky. Some challenging rides do await however with excellent climbs and great views. I'll be back to explore more in the winter.

Additional directions. When you turn right on coopers terrace follow the road to the first house on the right, it had a large sandpile to the right of the gate with a no trespasing sign half way down the drive on the left. Just drive in and the owner will come out. Nice guy.PS they have disc golf too.
