Trail Description:
York River State Park offers some very exciting traisl. Many switchbacks and fast downhills. Hard to climb hills. Narrow at times. The trails can get pretty technical. Rides for all levels can be found here.
How to get there:
Exit 231 off of I-64. Follow the signs to York River State Park. Once you get to the park follow the dirt/gravel road into the woods. About a mile back the advanced trail is on the right side.

The Marl Ravine Trail that is maintained by the EVMA is a great trail to practice on. Plenty of ups/downs, roots, switchbacks, etc.. Nothing to play on like Freedom Park nearby, but nonetheless a great ride overall. Parking lot to trail and back is 8.3 miles.

The longer trail(i forgot its name) was fun and hard
but there wasnt that much terain as in
jumps, skinys, and drops (what a teenager looks for
in a mountain biking trail). do not do the black
bear trail it's pathetic i'd much rather go to freedom
park, if you folow the service road and pass the
bridge directly to your left(its not marked) is a new
trail and it is really fun so check it out, but thats
just my own stupid teenager opinion.

Beautiful park! I can't wait to see it in the spring. The trails weren't as technical as I was hoping for though. Most of the trails are real wide and flat. Chesapeake Challenge was a lot of fun though, very steep switchbacks, narrow and a lot of roots. There is definitely "something for everyone".

Something for everyone, from extremely easy to very techincal. Don't forget to bring money for park entry fee (I think it was $3)

By far the best trail in hampton roads! do the advanced several times and really feel your legs burning! Lots of hills, switchbacks, medium roots, mostley narrow, and helmets are manditory, great ride a must for all in the area. Parking is like $3 per car.

Sweet trail. Nice climbs and decents, couple log jams, challenging technical areas. The trail is well maintained, some roots but otherwise pretty smooth.

Awesome place to ride for this area. Marl Ravine is the expert trail but not all that difficult. A lot like the trails at Pocahontas. Climbs are not that long or difficult but lots of tight single track and its very fast in areas. So its a lot of fun. Definately worth getting out of Richmond to try something different
