Trail Description:
All single track except for some paved path along the river and dam crossing. This is a fun loop. It's not overly difficult, but can get challenging in spots.
How to get there:
From Forest Grove, follow the sign's to Hagg Lake. You can't miss it, the sign is almost as big as the town.
Additional Notes:
$3.00 parking permit or $30.00 season pass. Only open during spring and summer

Great Trail! We did the loop in May, the ground was very muddy in a few areas but overall the trail was in good shape and fun. As a first timer to the Hagg lake loop I'd recommend taking along the map to help navigate it. Some areas are poorly marked.

The ride is 14.1 miles. Best to ride when dry; otherwise, you're in for a long, muddy day. Most beginner/easy-intermediate riders will have a good time on this trail. Not a ton of climbing...fun, rolling hills...switchbacks...nothing overly challenging (save for some of the ruts...look ahead...oh, and DIRECTIONS...lots of intersections. You'll find a bike computer and a list of navigation points to be quite helpful.) Most intermediate/ advanced level riders will find this trail well below their skill level.

Solid ride when dry, way slick, muddy this time of year, will bring home pounds of silty clay as of this year.

The east side is quite fun, but the west side I would
skip--too many ruts and blackberry bushes on the
trail. The detour bites too. If you ride in September
you can stop and pick apples every few miles.

In the summer heat, I recommend parking at Boat Ramp C. The rest room and concessions truck make it a great place to cool down and refresh after a long, hot ride.
Ride counter clockwise around the lake and stay on the wider trails. This may result in more time on the road, but less time in the thorn bushed. The last mile has the worst blackberry growth.

$5 to park. Good trail that will test your endurance if you're out of shape. Park in the gravel lot on the right after driving across the dam. Ride the loop clockwise around the lake. Many berry bushes have overgrown, so arm/leg/hand protection is recommended if you want to maintain speed through the tight clearances. Don't wear your favorite jersey as your clothes will get snagged on thorns. 4 gears instead of 5 due to overgrown thorn bushes.
