Trail Description:
This is a fast and fun loop. It's short so you may want to do it several times, but it's still fun.

Take the trail to the left from the parking lot. The loop will take you around and spit you back out on the trail to the right. The ride is best counter-clockwise.

How to get there:
In Lawrence take Mass St. past the bridge. Take the first right. At the second stop sign take another right. Turn into park grounds and park in the lot.

Additional Notes:
Where most of the lawrence races are held.

A great 9 mile loop best to ride Clockwise (start to the left of the fence, not right). It's a comfortable 1 hr ride, 45 if you had your wheaties and 35-40 if you are riding your bike like you stole it. Watch out for bikers on the gravel path that intersect 8th street(which is the street that dead ends into the parking area). You will cross over this gravel levy path that runs a 10+ mile section of the Kansas river. The parking lot has a boat launch as well. Best part for mom or dad with little bikers is that in the first 3.5-4 miles you can jump off the trail to your left and hop on the gravel levy trail and head back to the car/lot.

Clean trail, few climbs and switchbacks, great for cardio, you can take an hour lunch to complete if in lawrence area and have both lunch and PT complete.

This is a 9 mile multi-use loop. The last two miles or so get and stay muddy. The trail itself is well maintained and fast. Some nice ups and downs but not a lot of climbing. Watch out for deer, kids, and trail runners. And whatever you do - don't drink the water.

The best part is you can park at the Free State Brewery or Johnny's- ride to the trail- and then knock a few back after the ride.

First, for directions, go north on mass st. over the kansas river bridge then take your first right etc... This is one of the first trails I have ridden and it was alot of fun. Lots of turns through trees, up and down and up and down, some cool jumps and watch the sand!!!

Very Fun ride, but the trail is more like 9 miles.

This is a great trail to ride. It takes about 45 minutes. It is almost 9 miles long. It is not very technical but very fun.

It's a 10 mile ride not 2 miles.

OK trail, but it can get boring real quick. Very little technical challenge. Perry Lake or the Fort Leavenworth Trail are a a much better ride.

back in the day when i lived in Kansas City this was one of the first trail i rode and still one of my favorite. do it fast and furious and hit the rollers and stunt jumps along the way. in the middle of the ride this is a natural half-pipe arena that is burly. speed is the key.
