Ride Summary:
This is the most diverse trail in the San Diego area as far as terrain goes. Almost 100% singletrack, with a few sections that are wide, but not wide enough to be called fireroad.

Trail Description:
Has a bit of everything: uphill, downhill, technical singletrack, switchbacks, burms, dirt, rock and sand

How to get there:
Take I-8 east and exit at Pine Valley.

Follow the sign to the left and pass under 8.

You will come to a stop sign in Pine Valley, go across the street to the gas station to buy your Forest Adventure Pass.

From the stop sign you will make a left and follow this road, Olde Highway 80, for about 2 miles.

You will cross a bridge that goes over Pine Valley Creek; make a right here, onto Pine Valley Cr Rd.

Follow this road for about another 2 mile until you see the sign that says Cleveland National Forest. Park here.

Just past the parking area you will see a small paved road that goes straight and one that goes right, follow the right one to get to the trailhead. Stay to the left and look for the gate.

Additional Notes:
Take plenty of water, because most of the trail is uncovered and open to the sun. Watch for horses and hikers.

Rode there this weekend. Some snow on the side of the trail, but not a bunch. Get there at about three and the gate to the upper area of the shuttle should be open. I finished at three and my buddy and i shuttled up to the gate. The ride up the last two or three miles is strenuous. But the downhill is worth it.

umm no the best way to do this trail if you are into downhill is a shuttle dont even try to start at the bottom lots and ride up its almost and hour down at an avreage speed of like 25 ish and its a killer trail well if your into dh if xc it might be a lil hard for those rigids i used to ride a giant hardtail it was fun till i found out wut dh was never go hard tail again ride foes to the end

Sick, Sick, Sick... This trail has a great combo of screaming single-track and technical downhill. The perfect for ride for anyone who wants to test their skills. I ride a joker with 6" of rear travel. It will uphill with the best of them, however, I still enjoy the pure downhill ride.

Been quite awhile since we've rode it, but if the nasty rumors about the Forest Service doing "improvements" are untrue.... it's a fantastic trail. The "real" riders start and finish at the parking lot at the bottom on the creek at Pine Valley. Start with climbing the rocky switchbacks and do the turn around at the Sunrise Highway, then fireball back. Definite 5-star when we rode it!

The downhill makes the climb worthwhile. You have got to gut it out at least once-you will be glad you did!

Forget climbing. Park a car at in Pine Valley and one at the trailhead on Sunrise highway, about a mile past the El Prado Campground. Still a lot of climbing to do, and you get 12 miles without doing the same part of the trail twice.

This trail is worth the climb so don't be a wuss and car shuttle it. The singletrack is off the hook!
