Trail Description:
Abuse. Nothing here is flat. If you're not climbing, you're screaming downhill. Most everthing is off-camber or full of roots and rocks -- sometimes both. Don't come here without travel. Don't come here without skills. Still, this is good stuff. If you can ride this, you can ride most anywhere in the state.

How to get there:
Exit out of the back of Lake Crabtree County Park, through the walkway in the fence as if you were going to Umstead. Or park at the IBM building off of Moorisville Parkway and take the asphalt behind the lake. Trail head is down the dirt road on the left (away from the I-40 crossover) towards the water treatment plant.

Way more technical than Tsali, much different but way more technical. There are at least 30 downed logs, tons of roots, steep hills full of chickenheads, and a lot of potential for speed. The trail never lets up so be ready for a workout, and if you're bad with directions, bring a compass, there are no signs or markers. Awesome place to ride. This is the best trail in the triangle bar none.

as good as it gets in the Triangle, but to say its as tough as any in the state in lunacy. Go ride Pisgah, Bent Creek, Tsali or Andrews and refresh your comments.

My favorite trail in the area. ... and it definitely isn't closed.

has trail opened again?, where are their new ones in cary?

I have to disagree with "Don't come here without suspension". I ride this trail better on my HT than my full squish. It is a fun trail, but as Dave mentions below, it is suffering from over-use and too many people riding wide around stuff. Also, to the original reviewer, it is not even close to as hard as much of what is in this state. Go ride around Brevard for a weekend and then check back.

I go here a lot too, and have never seen a ticket being given. The airport land area is from the area right as you go under the highway bride, to the trail exit onto the dirt road, this is the area that RDU airport owns, so thats where to watch out....but the rest is legal....

Haven't heard about any tickets being given, although this is on airport land. It's ridden every week. And it earns its name. Expect some bruises.

As an update: I am still riding this on average once every 10 days, no access issues. Still a wild ride. Although I do ask locals...: Please stay on trail, the wider it gets the more boring it gets. Thanks.

I have yet to have any problems w/ the authorities on this trail I ride it about once a week, and always see others. It's a wild ride.
