Trail Description:
This is a downhill trail that requires skills and balls to do. We are trying to get some downhill pros to come and ride it like Shaums March, Brian Lopes, Palmer and others. There are other nearby trails that are easier and there is also good cross country trails nearby for those who like to climb. Face was built by Richard Lancaster who rides for Mountaincycle and we all love it a lot!

How to get there:
Take HWY 101 south toward Santa Barbara and there will be turnout for trucks. It is just up the hill.

These directions are intentionally vague.

Additional Notes:
Bring all downhill protective gear!

Great trail, if people actually rode it, it wouldn't be so overgrown. Where your gear, pound a beer, have no fear! AJ your Gay!

Dirtworld, don't try to get people to ride this trail. It's a local spot and we don't need a bunch of people screwing it up for everybody by getting in over their heads and having to be airlifted out. This trail is no joke, the gnar factor is beyond anything else, and if you eat it, you will get hurt, badly. There is another trail nearby that is described as "baby Face" it's known for being one of the most challenging DH trails in the area. Face makes it look like a paved bike path. anybody who wants to ride it needs an invite and a guide, cause you won't find it otherwise

It's interesting to see the way the trail has changed over time. The comment by Jimmy does not take into consideration what the trail was like when it was built years ago. many lines have been changed over time to make the trail easier, safer, and more rideable (the pu$$y crack, the original face line, ect.) the trail is well-broken in now and flows much better than it ever did. equipment has gotten way better, as well. some of the first full runs down this trail were on cross country hardtails, seats lowered, flat handlebars, ect. and no protective gear beyond a xc helmet and jeans. no sense in getting arrogant on your posts jimmy, some people should really just stay off this trail.

It's interesting to read others comments. Joel doesn't know what he is talking about if he thinks that is face he must not know what ggnarly is. Ben has got it right especially since one section of the trail is named thumb breaker (for a reason), also richard road the fastest sections in Chain Smoke, the rest were to difficult and slow for a film, although the trail is completely ridable. Also, Richard didn't build all the trail just some of it

this is face...Richard only rides the top section in chain-smoke, witch consists of only some jumps... the lower section is something else...don’t try it innless you wish to break both your wrists and a thumb

Best trail. if you can ride it, you can ride anything, and i mean clear the whole trail, haha, have fun!

This is hands down the hardest trail I've ever ridden, I mean walked. It sounds like most of you dont even know where it is. You can see Richard ride it on Chainsmoke II but he makes it look a lot easier than it is.

none of you can ride this trail. i walked it. its rediculous. dont waste your time. the only thing that it will do is crush your ego, knowing that there is actually a person out there who canride this trail.
