Trail Description:
Long rolling trail that goes along the base of the mountains from Rock Canyon into Springville. Being developed for runners and bikers. The part between Rock Canyon and the Y Mountain trail head is all double track and mostly small gravel. Between the Y Mountain trail head and slate canyon is mostly fast, rolling, fire road The best single track is after Slate canyon right as you get into Springville. For a little while it is actually pretty technical. Then on into Springville is is mostly fire road that is closed off to motor vehicles. You can make a long ride by riding all the way from Rock Canyon into Springville (and farther if you want) or you can make it a short on by riding between any of the canyons.
How to get there:
Starting from Rock Canyon: Drive towards the mountains (east) on East North Temple Drive (East 2300 North St.) Past the temple to Rock Canyon trailhead. Park in the parking lot and the trail begins to the south of the parking lot.
Starting from the Y Mountain Trailhead: Drive towards the mountains (east) on 820 North. Turn Right when you get to Terrace Drive (the last right you can take) and that road will take you up to the Y Mountain trail head parking lot. Ride North to Rock Canyon (not that great of a trail for riding) or South towards Slate Canyon and Springville.

You are all forgetting a great section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. The Provo leg actually begins at the Bridal Veil Falls parking lot. Ride north up the paved trail about 200 feet and on your right is a sign directing you back and UP! The trail is all beautiful single track and is about 2 miles long. It climbs steadily to the top and then has some great rollers and even some double track before coming out onto Squaw Valley road. There are several ways to avoid pavement from there but you will eventually be back on a road where you can either ride back to your car or head down to the Rock Canyon area to complete the Provo section. I love to make this a fun training loop and it also serves to break in buddies who think they can climb.

I grew up just north of rock canyon and I know the terrain very well. If you go north of rock canyon on the road that passes just in front of the big park/basin, to a big hill called Iriquois drive and head up to the very top of the hill you can actually get in another good section of downhill before you get to rock canyon. I usually do this trail when nothing else is melted off yet in the spring or in the late fall when things are wet. I also ride this trail as a training trail because it is about 18 miles if you start at the Iriquois trailhead go up rock canyon until the avalanche and then head south until you get to the very north end of springville and then turn around and come back. you will definitely be tired by the end of this ride.

The spelling is Bonneville. Not Bonnivile.

This trail is VERY strenuous. I would not reccomend
this trail to anyone who is not looking to die when
they ride. A few members of my party lost it when
we were 1/3 of the way there. Of course, we did
ride from our hotel uphill 6 miles. Not smart. It was
ok otherwise.

The Bonnivle Shoreline section here is ok, makes a decent little ride durring lunch. However if you go from Slate Canyon to the Y trailhead, but instead of going on the shoreline trail head up the canyon and then over the pass and down to the Y, then this is a great ride.

I FOUND THE BEST WAY IS TO START AT SLATE CANYON AND GO BACK TOWARDS THE Y. THAT IS IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET SOME SERIOUS CLIMBING IN. LOTS OF FUN THOUGH
