Ride Summary:
technical woodsy singletrack smack in the middle of Metropolitan Houston
Trail Description:
There are many trails to choose from here. Most are up and down, technically challenging trails through heavy woods. One trail is appropriately called the "roller-coaster" and the most technical trail is on the eastside, called "Cambodia." Some trails have been eroded, leaving a lot of sand and roots in their place.
How to get there:
From Loop 610 west, take the Woodway/Memorial Drive Exit and head East. After passing under the railroad trestle, take a right into the picnic area. Park near the Baseball diamond and head over to the trailhead sign which also information for you.
Additional Notes:
The Trail Hotline is 713-468-6824, ext. 2-WET. Be sure to call after any amount of rain, because these trails are sensitive, and HAMBRA has worked hard to keep them open. Also, mosquitoes are known to inhabit the woods.

I ride their every weekend. The yellow and orange
trails are great warm ups if you ride them fast. the
closed sections on the back of the bayou are good
rides. some steep grades and logs to jump. The
triangle is great too. last weekend i rode all of the
closed black grade trails. Really tough and
overgrown, but still worth it. If you want a great run
on these trails don't even think about doing on the
weekends. ride hard!

Glad people breaking leash laws are getting tickets. If you want to let your dog run loose we have lots of great dog parks. My dog turns into cujo when he is on a leash and another dog approaches. I have been taking him hiking a lot and expect the other dogs to be leashed!

Went last weekend it is still hell of alot of fun and a great work out. But 13 years ago it WAS GREAT. Now Uncle L.E.O.'s writting tickets while peaople breaking leash laws with dogs are EVERYWHERE even designated BIKE trails. Not to mention all the closures. Still rode all the trails with no concern to the signs. Just be ready to jump some logs. I would definately be down to spend a weekend to repair the trails.

What happened to these once hallowed grounds of the first church of Houston dirt. The once famous Memorial Park Trail system, has been reduced to a neutered version of it's once veril robust dirt haven for adrenaline junkies. What once used to be approx 12 miles of trails has been cut in half over the years. Between the rich and the tree huggers unnecessary closures has been force fed down the throats of the faithful few. All that aside it still is a good escape and place to stay sharp off the concrete. Riders who feel the need to scratch the itch and ride on muddy/wet trails are doing a disservice to what little trails are left in the park. Hey you stop riding/raping the trails causing sometimes unrepairable ruts and erosion, just because you can't wait, like the rest of us. Quick fix for the ignorant and unwilling, (Citations) and a trip to court. Lets all do a reverse rain dance, is it ever going to stop raining. Stay strong my dirt brothers and hit it hard when it drys. Adi

Started riding here around 8 months ago, enjoy the fact that it's close to home. Did not have the pleasure of riding the park back in the day, before closures, what a shame. Best rides are the triangle which will challenge most riders skill/cardio. Second best is green trail if ridden at a good pace. closed section Laos kicks ass, don't know why it is closed. Stay away on weekends late or holidays, rush hour traffic back there, with many clueless. How about the city exploring the possibilities of expanding and building some new rated trails, plenty of unused land to work with, put it to use. No way does Houston's Memorial Park have 15 miles of MTB trails.

This trail at one time was an amazing trail with technical sections that would all but reach out and steal you lunch money. When I first started riding there in the late 90's the trails before the color coding system started, a rider could stay lost in there for hours with nothing but the mosquitos for company. Now the Rollercoster is gone and the jagged flesh tearing teeth that made Cambodia famous have been replaced with a dull set of dentures. This is still a good ride but just a shadow of it former self.

These trails are ok for a change of scenery. Plenty of shade, but lacking help preventing errosion. Need IMBA help!If all the rider that rode the trails would pitch in and take one weekend a month to all get together, and work with each other, it would be a really cool spot to ride. Hope somthin good happens to these trails as far as keeping the trails up and running. Reopen the ROLLER COASTER! :) A helmet is a must!! Have A Good Ride!
